5 Benefits of Learning English with Private Lessons and a Native Spanish Speaker

  • Atención personalizada: One-on-one instruction adapts to each student's unique learning style, pace, and goals, ensuring faster and deeper progress.
  • Explicaciones en tu idioma: A native Spanish speaker can clarify confusing English concepts in Spanish, making lessons clearer and reducing frustration.
  • Corrección precisa: Immediate and specific feedback in real time helps correct mistakes quickly and builds confidence.
  • Mayor motivación y confianza: Personalized attention creates a comfortable, supportive environment, which keeps students engaged and motivated to learn.
  • Enfoque en dificultades comunes: A teacher who knows the typical challenges Spanish speakers face in English can address problem areas directly, making every lesson more effective.

Research focused learning methods that work

These are the four methods I use in my one-one instruction and in my group learning classes too.

Spaced Repetition and Review: Using techniques such as spaced repetition to revisit new vocabulary and information at set intervals increases long-term retention dramatically.

Immersion and Real-Life Practice: Immersion—actively using the language in real-life situations and consistent exposure to media or conversation with native speakers—has been proven to be among the most effective ways to internalize a new language.

Interleaved Practice: Mixing different skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) within the same study session helps build connections and improves overall fluency.

Mnemonic Devices and Associations: Forming associations through keywords, rhymes, or vivid imagery enhances vocabulary recall and comprehension.

Personalized one-on-one tutoring, especially when done online, has been shown by research to deliver significantly better language learning outcomes compared to traditional classroom or book-based methods. Studies indicate that students in individualized tutoring settings can perform up to two standard deviations (or 98%) better than those in group classes, thanks to personalized attention, the ability to adapt pacing and topics to each learner, and more opportunities for targeted feedback and real conversation practice.
